Today is Mahatma Gandhi’s Happy Birthday
Mahatma Gandhi, (October 2, 1869 January 30, 1948), Father of the Nation, was peaceful political and spiritual leader of India. His birthday was October 2. He was the pioneer of Satyagraha, which is a philosophy and practice of nonviolent resistance. He fought against the British with Ahimsa or total non-violence. On August 15, 1947, India became an independent nation.
October 2nd, Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday, is commemorated as Gandhi Jayanti (a national holiday) in India.
On 15 June 2007, the United Nations General Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution declaring October 2 to be the “International Day of Non-Violence.
Today, we remember the Father of the Nation. Happy Birthday Bapu.
