Here comes spring break and it`s time for festival! South by Southwest, better known as SXSW festival is rocking the internet! South by Southwest (SXSW) is an interactive, film and music festival and conference that has taken place every spring in Austin, Texas since 1987. The music festival is one of the biggest in the United States, with over a thousand performers playing in dozens of venues around downtown Austin for a week in March.

1994 saw the addition of SXSW Film and Interactive. SXSW Film has become one of the world’s premiere film festivals, focusing on new directing talent. Likewise, SXSW Interactive has attracted a strong following amongst web creatives and entrepreneurs.

In 2006, SXSW featured 1,493 showcasing musical acts, screened 230 films, involved 64 music venues and brought about $38 million to the Austin economy.

2007 music festival, which runs through March 14 - 18, will include performances by Exit Clov, Scott Lucas of Local H, Enter Shikari, The Stooges, The Sword, Interpol, Lily Allen, Bobby Lounge, Bloc Party, Moros Eros and Cold War Kids, and speakers including David Byrne (of the Talking Heads) and Pete Townshend (of The Who)[1]. The festival will take place March 14-18, 2007, and over 1400 acts are reported to play there. SXSW offers a free musical sampler each year; this year’s offering includes over 725 MP3s available for download via a torrent[1].
